Summary:

From the study it was found that most of the female unskilled labourers moved from  village to town and had come from distressed family often discriminated /harassed by their employers and co-workers. The study conducted in Savar region shows that female unskilled labors  were offered a very little wages and
benefits without enjoying any type of holidays /leaves. They had to work even during religious festivals also. They did not receive wages of those non-working days due to illness or any other causes. Though both males and females work for ten hours, females were less paid. A large portion (about 40%) of unskilled female labourers which were found no logical reason of this difference in wages. 70% of females found current benefit offerings were insufficient also. About 54% of females claimed they got (Tk. 500- Tk. 700 only) compensation which is less than that of males when they had any injury during the working hours. This amount was not sufficient for even medical treatment, let alone others. The family of an injured female had to go within real hardship, as they did not receive any allowances during the recovering days. In case of compensation, only 13% of females think it was adequate. Generally, lower aged and newly joined
females were the victims of physical harassment by their employers and co-workers.
